What’s in A Name?
The Nine Mile Portage, linking Kempenfelt Bay to Willow Creek, is a historically significant trail originally used by the Indigenous peoples who have visited and called this region home for thousands of years. The trail also played a vital role in keeping supplies moving during the War of 1812.
While real estate has little to do with the carrying of canoes, it does involve a significant journey. One that requires careful navigation and expert guidance. We chose the name Nine Mile Realty to honour the history of the area that we call home, and the quest to find the perfect home for you.

For a guy like Mike, there’s no such thing as a straight or narrow path to success. According to this former national whitewater kayaking team member, the more twists and turns, the better. As a self-proclaimed serial entrepreneur and past professional musician, Mike has a wide variety of interests and talents which led him to some invaluable life skills, not to mention stories (that time he recorded with Alanis Morissette, anyone?). As a successful broker with more than 15 years experience in the Simcoe/Muskoka region, Mike knows more than most that real estate is a journey. And like all journeys, it’s much better with a trusted guide to lead the way. Someone who’ll talk you through the landscape, the risks, and the rewards. Because the better informed you are, the more likely you are to find the home that’s right for you and your family. Today, Mike spends a lot of his free time giving back to the community he loves. He’s the current Chair of the Empower Simcoe Foundation which raises funds to support people with intellectual disabilities, and a Director at the Kiwanis Club of Barrie. He’s also a Past President of the Lakelands Association of REALTORS®. Rumour has it he’s not quite hung up his paddle, or his guitars, just yet.
